every man needs a canoe (ntr)

NTR jnr and I had a great weekend canoeing and camping - it had it everything a father and son camping trip needs, all bases were covered. Hot chocolate when we started, pies stashed away for lunch, lizard sightings, wind and rain, a camp fire, sausages, a billy, marshmellows.....and.... A CANOE!

We spent a night on Lake Yarrunga, Kangaroo Valley. It started with a 3-3.5 hr paddle from Bendeela to the camp site, and then another 1-2 hour paddle today to Tallowa dam. Apart from the southerly wind making going straight ( and forward ) rather difficult for an hour yesterday, and rain that 'dampened' our spirits last night, the whole things was easy, relaxing and tops fun! Tried fishing...no luck...hmmmmm. I guess they weren't tricked by our Big W lures....Met a few people on the river and at the campsite - they were all really nice.

Small Question to self: what is it with groups of male poms - loud, rude and without manners...maybe they think us colonials cant understand "proper english" - well there was a group on the bus going there and on the way back who thought they were still at the pub and carried on just the same....and that was compared to a group of Americans who were on the return bus too!

Next trip ( maybe October, i wont do it in winter....brrrr ) i am hoping to get Mouse, all the kids, some brothers, family and friends to join us. I reckon it will be a blast!! The place to book the perfect trip....http://www.kangaroovalleycanoes.com.au/

In regards to training, after a great run last Sunday at smc, i again BOMBED my 8km at parra park. Finished in 48mins. Although it was real humid and hot...no long run at all this weekend with the camping trip, but will do 21km Monday or Tuesday though...then it is definitely taper...yah!! I am really excited about canberra....not long now....
